UNESCO International Fashion Competition DESIGN 21-II
SPES is cordially inviting all International and Mauritians Art & Crafts and Industrial Design collaborators to attend the presentations of three Designer Laureates of the UNESCO International Fashion Competition DESIGN 21-II, which will take place at A Catwalk Show with top Models on 7th June 1998 at the site of the Lisbon International Expo.
To be noted that the International Members of the Jury under the Chairmanship of Mr. Jacques Mouclier, President of the Fédération de la Couture, du Prêt-à-porter, des Couturiers et Créateurs de Mode based the selection of 100 International Fashion Competition Awards on the following criteria:
- Creativity and originality in forms and designs
- Expression of cultural identity and origin
- Use and adaptation of traditional materials and production techniques
- Respect of the environment in production techniques
It is hoped that this prestigious event will also have an impact on the Mauritian Tourist and Trade Industries, seeing that the SPES trained Designers Man and Woman clothes and accessories, combine Hand and CAD/CAM exclusive products and reflect our country’s Identity Trends in Textile Weaving and Knitwear, Jewellery, Shoes and Straw-work, which are in keeping with the UNESCO’s Fashion Competition environmentally-friendly “Ocean Links”. In fact to quote: “the theme of the design selection organised by UNESCO and Felissimo Group is ‘A United World for the Future Generation: Beyond Time, Beyond Oceans’.
