The NGO SPES educational/vocational specialised Trainers of our special Basic Multi-Literacy Quick-Learning Course have the great pleasure of starting this New Year website update with the exciting flash-back photos of their Live Demonstration of: A small Solar Panel linked to a tablet to provide free energy which they presented at the first SPES Moms’ Cyber Cate to encourage Village Mothers of Le Bouchon Village to follow in 2014, at our New Model Creative Centre our easy-to-learn Basic Multi-Literacy course that integrates eco crafts skills to uplift Family Life Conditions.

On April 2nd the Honourable Minister of Education launched officially the NGO SPES Training at Le Bouchon Village Creative Training Centre for the Ados and Mothers, who are in dire need of learning basic literacy and digital skills essential nowadays. The NGO SPES Directors and Trainers presented a small Solar individual panel linked to a tablet for free energy in poor households. They stressed the importance of free e-skills and eco crafts Training of Mothers at Le Bouchon Creative Centre to uplift family life conditions. The Minister wrote an encouraging message on the interactive white board.

The year 2014 has been a very productive year as NGO SPES continued Phase II of our 2015 project on Fibers and Dyes, mainly on Indigo for Fashion & Decor eco-friendly Development. Thanks to International USA, UK & Local technical exchanges with collaborating Top experts specialised in the fields of Plants natural fibers recycling, Textile, Weaving & Hand-dyeing techniques.

NGO SPES and the Mahebourg Rotary Club Members helped to set-up 2 Village Creative Centres and our SPES trainers mentor the Teacher Trainees and the Audit Learners in dire need of basic Multi-Literacy & Craft Skills. One centre is situated at Le Bouchon near the ultra-modern Airport and the other is adjoined to the “Le Morne Heritage Trust Fund” that is responsible for “The UNESCO Universal Patrimony Le Morne Mountain site.”

During April to July Mr Rajdeep SHAH kindly undertook a “Weaving Updating Workshop”, as he had been the former Trainer of our NGO SPES Village Weaving Studio, which SPES launched 30 years ago. Being a Textile Designer Raju also helped to set up a “Mini-Expo of hand-dyed t-shirts with natural indigo” which was visited by Mr Mohammed Osman, the Director of MID —Maurice Ile Durable national eco-friendly project, MBC TV made a video of this SPES Textile Training event for their new Eco Magazine.

As our new SPES Villages Creative Centres are connected to our main Quatre-Bornes Centre with interactive whiteboards, SPES Trainers also create & share teaching &programmes and organise fun-learning sessions like the Kids’ Cyber Café organised at Easter Time for under five years and also carry out regularly Multi-literacy & Cyber Sessions for Ados and Mothers of Le Bouchon Village

In October the SPES honorary director, Sharon Thompson, who is a Ceramist Designer, was invited to participate at the WCC— World Crafts Council Jubilee, which consisted of Conferences & Expos, and WCC/ China organised in the Dongyang, Zhejiang Province, China. The Launching Event was a Catwalk of National Typical Costumes of the WCC participating Member Countries, during which a dancing colourful Sega costume designed by Lourdes BOZELLE from our Rodrigues Island was in the limelight. As for the SPES eco-dress “Oceanic Waves hand-dyed in Indigo Blues” it was much admired with its matching Titanium necklace hand-painted in Blue Hues by the Mauritian young designer Ravi Jetshan.

In December the main Festive Event was the special gathering at our NGO Town Training Centre of the 2 small groups of Ladies, who follow our free Basic Multi-Literacy & Crafts Courses at both Le Bouchon & also at Le Morne Mountain Village Creative Centre. These ladies of all ages participated the SPES first MOMs’ Cyber Café enjoyable fun-learning event, where they sang Carols & learnt to make pumpkin cupcakes in the pleasant interactive company of loveable SAYA, the science e-tutor humanoid robot hat is on loan at NGO SPES for eco-friendly e-programmes exchanges, thanks to Professor Hiroshi Kobayashi who runs Kona-Lab of the Tokyo University of Science, using effective RAL — Robotic Aided Learning and these fun-learning gatherings always enchant participants of all age groups.
